Lasse-Marc Riek (born 1975 in Germany)  uses field recording as a means to capture and explore acoustic ecology, bioacoustics and soundscapes. Since 1997, he has operated internationally, staging exhibitions and concerts, releasing recordings and delivering lectures and workshops.

Diverse venues have hosted his performances: galleries, art museums, churches and universities.

Among them are the Museum für Kommunikation Frankfurt (D), Schirnkunsthalle Frankfurt (D), ZKM Karlsruhe (D), Norsk Teknisk Museum Oslo (NO), Kajaani Art Museum, (FIN), Museo Reina Sofía Madrid (ES), Art Center Beirut Lebanon (LB), Gallery ONKAF New Delhi (IND), Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art Roverto (IT) and Skylight Gallery New York (USA).

His work has featured on public media, including public radio channels.  Radiophone Compositions for Deutschlandradio Kultur (DLR), Hessischer Rundfunk (HR), West German Radio (WDR),  Südwestrundfunk (SWR) and for the Austrian Radio (ORF).

He has received scholarships and participated in artist-in-residence programmes in Europe, the Middle East and Africa. Prizes and awards, among others Junge Akademie, Akademie der Wissenschaften Berlin (D), Wildlife Sound Recording Society Competition (UK), Prix Phonurgia Nova (F), Grand Prix Nova (RO) and the Quartz Electronic Music Award (F).



He is the co-founder of the label Gruenrekorder, which, since 2001, has concentrated on soundscapes, field recordings and electro-acoustic compositions and works in these contexts with artists and scientists on an international level.
